HUSHCORE™ PATH CONTROL SYSTEMS
An effective open top path barrier should provide minimum STC-30 and NRC 0.85 performance. Surface mass provides sound transmission loss rated as a single descriptor called STC (Sound Transmission Class). A barrier’s ability to absorb and dissipate reflected sound is rated as a single descriptor called NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient). An effective path barrier should provide minimum STC-30 and NRC 0.85 performance.
When open top barriers exceed the height of an air cooled chiller, consideration needs to be given to manage airflow and impact on operating efficiency and the unit power consumption. Full enclosure path treatments are required when more than 20 dBA of reduction is needed or where the location of critical receivers are at an elevation higher than the chillers. Overall, acoustic performance will be determined by the height of the barrier enclosure in relation to the source height and the receiver height. This relationship is shown in the figure below. The greater the path length difference the greater the barrier insertion loss performance. Typical open top barrier performance is a reduction of 15 to 20 dBA.
HUSHCORE™ PREMIUM™ “SW” SYSTEM
Premium™ “SW” Systems are used for acoustical lining of block, brick, metal or other reflective barriers. The exterior grade QAB construction is weather and UV resistant while absorbing specular sound reflections and dissipating reverberation build-up. HUSH QUILT™ panels can be supplied in roll form for contractor field modification or in factory fabricated finished panels.
HUSHCORE™ PREMIUM™ “OF” SYSTEM
Premium™ “OF” Systems are composite sound curtains used for liners on chain link, shadow box or other louvered partially open barriers, fences and screens. These composite HUSH FLEX™ panels are finish fabricated with hanging grommets and Velcro overlapping edges. The facings, Velcro, barrier layer and edge binding are all outdoor compatible. Average reductions are 10 to 12 dBA as long as the fence/panel height exceeds the chiller.
HUSHCORE™ SUPREME™ SYSTEM
Supreme™ System perimeter sound barrier walls are enclosures constructed of HUSH GUARD™ panels with a wind load rated, PE stamped structural steel framework. Performance for barriers that are 3’ taller than the equipment can produce reductions of about 18 – 20 dBA. Acoustical air intakes and discharge stacks may also be needed to manage the unit operating efficiency impact.
HUSHCORE™ SUPREME™ “PVC” SYSTEM
The Supreme™ “PVC” System is a perimeter sound barrier solution constructed using all weather, lightweight corrosion resistant HUSH GUARD™ PVC panels. Reductions up to 18 – 20 dBA are possible. This product design is similar to the metal version but may be preferred where there are weight limitations or where environmental conditions such as coastal sites (near salt water) may dictate.
HUSHCORE™ ULTIMATE™ SYSTEM
The Ultimate™ System is a complete enclosure custom designed building with high performance integrated air intakes and discharge stacks. Reductions of 20 to 30 dBA are possible. This solution requires extensive coordination and sign off by the chiller manufacturer to make sure the design is optimized to consider airflow and backpressure tolerance.
